The journey and its writer: traveling along the Silk Road
€ 3.00
Colin Thubron, the British travel writer and novelist, talks about his fifty years of explorations and encounters, and instructs us on the value of travel, its limitations and its challenges. Thubron’s travel books guide the reader on a quest for the truth and humanity of the world and invite us to turn our backs on prejudice and the increasingly widespread “consumerist” approach to travel. In Shadow of the Silk Road, Thubron describes his 7,000-mile journey from China to the Mediterranean, across such vastly different countries as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey.
